About Us

The GMO Project is a non-profit organization that works to spread awareness on the value of GMOs and how it can be used to complement our everyday lifestyle. We believe GMOs are the key to fighting world hunger as it increases the rate of food production significantly. If other nations start adopting GMOs, we can ensure that no part of the world goes hungry. Our end goal is to reach out to the United Nations to promote GMO use outside of the US.

GMO Misconceptions

Why GMOs?

The benefits of GMOs:

Walk into the supermarket, look at those tomatoes! They look plump, juicy, and have a nice vibrant red color. This food quality is accomplished through the application of GMOs, also known as Genetically Modified Organisms. GMOs are foods that are cross bred or genetically enhanced to have special resistance against diseases and pesticides. In addition to disease and pesticide resistance, GMOs offer other benefits such as improved taste and higher crop yield. GMOs are the key to the future of food production and with this technology, we can create more fruits and vegetables that contain more nutrients. Help feed the world by supporting the GMO Project!

When you think of GMOs, you probably think of scientists in a lab injecting different DNA into natural fruits and vegetables. This by itself may seem frightening but research by Cornell University has shown that GMOs are harmless to human health.

Scientists from the Natural Academy of Science found that there is "no substantiated evidence that foods from GE crops were less safe than foods from non-GE crops." This research also tested GMOs against major diseases ranging from cancer to kidney disease and found that there is no correlation between GMOs and these diseases. In general, GMOs are safe to use and should not be the reason against adopting GMO use for crop production.
